Beloved artist Kiesza has released six new tracks on Dancing and Crying: Vol. 1, which open a door into the latest chapter of her story.

Turn the clock back to 2014, and you’ll find Kiesza dominating the charts with her iconic track “Hideaway.” That track catapulted her into the hearts of many around the world, and since then she’s only continued to bring the heat with each passing release. Collaborations with Skrillex, deadmau5, Duran Duran, and more have helped solidify her status in the scene, but her solo work has helped define who she really is as an artist.

Today, Kiesza has looked inward once again with the release of her latest body of work on Zebra Spirit Tribe, Dancing and Crying: Vol. 1, which she’s described as her “most deeply personal and meaningful project to date.” The first volume of the album, which was co-written and co-produced by Sugar Jesus and K. Sotomayor, features six fresh tunes from her mind that open the door to a new chapter of her career.

What sets this project aside is the foundation of trust at its core. It began unexpectedly and has carried us all through the unexpected since the day it came to life. I’m truly grateful for all the magic this music brought into my life. And the best part is that it’s still only just beginning!

Dancing and Crying: Vol. 1 isn’t just a dance-forward, party-ready album. Sure, there are moments when you’ll find yourself placed in the middle of a dancefloor, spinning around with joy on tracks like “Dancing and Crying,” “Go Back,” and “I Go Dance,” but Kiesza shows off her influences from other genres along the way.

“Heaven Ain’t Calling” with Sugar Jesus adds a fusion of folk-fueled vocals into the mix while the strings and powerful vocals on “Strangers” stir similar emotions later on. “The Mysterious Disappearance of Etta Place” arrives as the most interesting of the bunch, with spoken word vocals from Clay Gibbons opening the tune before Kiesza delivers one of the most gorgeous, soul-stirring performances on the album that will stick in your mind well past its runtime.
